Forming words into pictures and images into syllables, ellipsis makes a haiku come alive by way of their own set of rules and distinct way of collaborating. Traditionally, a haiku is made up of three lines: the first line contains 5 syllables, the second line contains 7, and the final line contains 5 syllables once again. The method ellipsis embarks on is as follows: Photographer One writes the first line. Photographer Two responds with photographs and words. Photographer One then takes that response and adds with her own photographs and words, thereby creating seven syllables for the second line of the haiku. Photographer Two steps back in and writes the last line of the haiku. The result is a call and response both in words and photographs resulting in a loosely exquisite corpse type of haiku.
